Our Environmental Commitment

At The Philadelphia Suzuki Piano Academy, we believe that our future as humans and as part of the community of life on earth will be the cumulative result of the decisions that each of us makes.  It is our intention to minimize the harm caused by our actions while also having a positive impact, including spreading information and encouraging others to think about environmental sustainability.
So far we have made the following choices:
☼ Use of FSC or high post-consumer content recycled paper in our materials wherever possible
☼ A heating and cooling system with the highest SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating) of any currently on the market
☼ Light-colored surfaces reflecting abundant daylight in our studio to minimize the need for electric lighting
    ☼ High-efficiency lighting (LED/CFL bulbs)
☼ State of the art insulation/thermal sealing
☼ Thermally efficient Energy Star windows and doors made with all FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified wood
☼ Flooring made of bamboo, a highly renewable material
☼ Inclusion of salvaged and reused materials and furnishings
    ☼ A water-conserving dual-flush toilet
    ☼ A bike, transit and pedestrian-friendly location
    ☼ Space-efficient use of part of a century-old building
