Creative Expression Through Musicianship
Taught by Christianne Bessières Lane
This weekly class is available to students ages 7 and up with at least one year of study on a musical instrument with music reading.  Using the curriculum of the nationally regarded Walden Musicianship Course, students explore the fundamentals, or “grammar” of music through singing, playing, and eventually writing.
Gaining and understanding of and facility in singing, playing, and writing rhythms, intervals, triads, and scales in many modes leads to a deeper appreciation of the music learned in individual instrument lessons, band, or choir, and provides tools for creative expression.
The course approaches musical concepts with a focus on observation and discovery and then explores and reinforces it in a variety of ways culminating in improvisation and composition.

Please see the Schedule and Tuition and Fees pages for class times/tuition.  Creative Expression Through Musiciainship meets 11 times per class term and may only be joined at the beginning of the term.
